Super Sixes Season Finale

The Redlands Super sixes is a joint collaboration between the Qld Cricket, local Redlands Junior clubs and Redlands Tigers.

This year we managed to run a separate girls program alongside the boys. The last session’s treat was to play on Peter Burge Oval and enjoy a sausage to celebrate what has been a great Term 4 program.

The program coaches were Overseas Players Owen Gould, Evan Withe, Tom Bevan (on the BBQ) and local player Bentleigh Martin.

Again the program well supported by Qld Cricket and local clubs, plans are now underway for next year’s Term 1 program.

The Redlands Super Sixes is an exciting and dynamic initiative that represents a collaborative effort between Queensland Cricket, local Redlands Junior clubs, and the renowned Redlands Tigers cricket club. This partnership aims to foster a love for cricket among young players in the Redlands area, providing them with an opportunity to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

This year, we proudly expanded our program to include a dedicated girls' cricket initiative, running concurrently with the boys' sessions. This significant development reflects our commitment to promoting inclusivity and empowering young female athletes in the sport. The culmination of this year’s activities was a memorable session held on the prestigious Peter Burge Oval, where participants had the unique opportunity to play on a field that holds historical significance in local cricket. To add to the festive atmosphere, we celebrated the success of the Term 4 program with a delicious sausage sizzle, allowing players, coaches, and families to come together and enjoy a meal in a relaxed setting.

The program was expertly guided by a talented coaching team, which included overseas players Owen Gould, Evan Withe, and Tom Bevan, who also took charge of the BBQ, ensuring that everyone enjoyed a tasty treat after the games. Their international experience brought a wealth of knowledge and diverse cricketing techniques to the sessions, enriching the learning experience for all participants. Additionally, local player Bentleigh Martin contributed his expertise, sharing insights and fostering a sense of community among the young cricketers.

Once again, the program received robust support from Queensland Cricket and local clubs, highlighting the strong community backing for youth cricket development in the area. As we reflect on the success of this year’s program, we are already in the planning stages for next year’s Term 1 program. Our goal is to build on the achievements of this year, further enhancing the experience for all players and ensuring that the Redlands Super Sixes continues to thrive as a cornerstone of junior cricket in our community.
